Team & Permissions

Who can do what in Garage Manager.

Roles at a glance

  • Owner โ€” full access including billing and team management. Most tenants have one. Pro plans allow 1 owner; Enterprise allows 2.
  • Admin โ€” full operational access (clients, quotes, invoices, billing, payments). Cannot invite or remove staff, cannot change roles, cannot edit core business settings.
  • Manager โ€” manages clients, quotes, invoices, and jobs. Cannot see billing, cannot invite staff, cannot reconcile payments.
  • Technician โ€” sees only the jobs assigned to them. Cannot create clients or invoices.

Inviting a team member

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Team.
  2. Click Invite.
  3. Enter their name, email, and role.
  4. They receive an email with a link to set their password.
  5. After signing in, they have access at the role you assigned.

Owner cap: PRO plans allow 1 owner, Enterprise allows 2. Promote a second owner only if you need a co-decision-maker on billing.

Changing someone's role

  1. On Settings โ†’ Team, change the role dropdown.
  2. The change takes effect immediately. They may need to refresh.
  3. You cannot demote yourself if you are the only Owner.
  4. Every role change is recorded in the audit log.

Removing a team member

  1. On Settings โ†’ Team, click Remove on their row.
  2. Confirm. Their account is deleted; their audit-log entries are preserved.
  3. You cannot remove yourself or the last Owner.
  4. If you re-invite them later with the same email, they receive a fresh password-setup link.

Common scenarios

"I want my mechanic to see only their assigned jobs."

Assign them Technician.

"My office manager should invoice but not change billing."

Assign them Admin. They can do operations and reconcile payments but cannot invite staff or change subscriptions.

"I want a service manager who runs day-to-day jobs but no billing access."

Assign them Manager. They see clients, quotes, invoices, and jobs but never billing or team management.

"I'm transferring the business โ€” how do I hand over ownership?"

Promote the new owner to Owner, then ask them to demote you. If your plan only allows one owner, contact support for a transfer.
