Add parts and labour to a job card

The Products tab on a job card is where you list what went onto the vehicle — parts fitted, and any labour or sundry charges. These copy straight across when you convert the card to an invoice.

Add an item

  1. Open the job card and switch to the Products tab.
  2. Tap Add item.
  3. Type a description — e.g. “Brake pads — front”.
  4. Pick a type: Part, Labour, or Other.
  5. Set the quantity and unit price, then tap Add.

Parts vs labour on a job card

  • Part — physical items you fitted. On the invoice these are prefixed “Part:” and grouped under the Parts heading.
  • Labour — a manual labour charge you are adding by hand. Most labour comes from clocked sessions instead, which roll into one line on convert.
  • Other — sundries, consumables, call-out — anything that is neither a fitted part nor labour time.
Time vs. typed labour: the job card’s Invoice-total card shows parts only — “labour rolls in on convert”. Tracked session time is added as its own labour line at conversion, on top of any Labour items you typed here. Don’t double up: either clock the time or type a fixed labour charge, not both for the same work.

Who can edit

Owners, admins, managers, and technicians can all add items while the card is open. Once the card is Invoiced or Cancelled it is terminal — items are locked and read-only. Pricing and structure are easier to keep consistent if your common parts live in the service catalog.
