Convert a job card to an invoice

When the work is done, one click turns a job card into an invoice. Parts copy across, tracked labour time becomes a labour line, and VAT is applied if your business is registered. The conversion is irreversible, so it happens from one place only — a completed card.

Convert

  1. Stop any running session — open time is not billed.
  2. Move the card to Completed (Overview → Move to → Completed).
  3. Click Convert to Invoice and confirm.
  4. GM creates a draft invoice and takes you straight to it. Review and issue it — see Create an invoice.

What carries across

  • Every Products-tab item — parts, labour, and other — copies over verbatim with its quantity and price.
  • All stopped sessions are summed and added as one consolidated labour line: total hours × your labour rate.
  • VAT at 15% is added if your business is VAT-registered and charging VAT; otherwise prices are net.
  • The new invoice starts in Draft so you can adjust before issuing.
The card needs a vehicle. An invoice must be tied to a vehicle, so a job card with no vehicle attached won’t convert. Add the vehicle to the client first, then retry.

After conversion

The job card flips to Invoiced — a terminal state. Items, sessions, and photos are locked, and a link to the invoice appears on the card. Conversion is also idempotent: if you tap it twice, you still get one invoice, not two. Only owners and admins can convert, because it is the money step.
