Start, pause, and complete a session
A session is a clocked block of work on a job card. Start it when a mechanic picks up the job, stop it when they put it down. GM adds up the time, and on convert it becomes the labour line on the invoice — no guessing hours at the end.
Start and stop
- Open the job card and stay on the Overview tab.
- Tap Start on the Total time card when work begins. The card shows a green ● Running indicator.
- Tap Stop when the mechanic stops — end of day, waiting for a part, or job done.
- Start again later and it adds another session. The card sums all stopped sessions into total hours.
One running session at a time on FREE and single-mechanic jobs. If a session is already open, you will be asked to stop it before starting another. Two or more parallel sessions are a PRO+ feature — see Multi-mechanic sessions.
How time becomes money
When you convert the card to an invoice, GM sums every stoppedsession, multiplies the total hours by your tenant labour rate (set in Settings → Business & Billing), and writes one consolidated labour line. An open, still-running session is skipped — stop it first or its time will not be billed.
- Total hours × labour rate = the labour line. Two hours at R450/hr bills R900.
- Pause for a tea break or parts wait by stopping the session; resume by starting a new one.
- Sessions are locked once the card is invoiced or cancelled — the time is frozen.
